Big Tree, Lake Merrit

I’m sad to say that this tree has been chopped down. Apparently Oakland’s Measure DD is allowing the Removal of 224 Trees. They have planned to replace them with 521 new trees, with a total tree increase of 59%. Yet, the beauty and size of these majestic trees will not be easily replaced.
