My Favorite Free Photoshop Tutorials

September 11, 2007

I was recently asked by an artist friend of mine:
What is the best way for me to learn how to use Photoshop? Just play? Or should I spend money to enroll in some seminar or community college class?

Well. My immediate answer was to refer them to my list of favorite free Photoshop tutorials. There are hours of free tutorials just waiting to teach and entertain you.

If Burt were answering this question he would say “just play”… “That’s how you learn.” So check out his podcast on a regular basis. He is particularly helpful for those that want to use Photoshop as a painting tool.

Wow. This guy is a freak. If you feel your commitment to learning Photoshop waning, watch Russel do his thing and you’ll be charged back up in no time! He has been doing this for a while, with tutorials going all the way back to version 7. You’ll also find advanced level printing tips and tutorials on how to make a podcast.

These are three of the best free online resources. Watch everything you can get your creative little fingers on. If you find that you respond well to the online-video-tutorial format, and want to take it a step further, you may want to check out some of the monthly subscription services like Lynda.com (just $25 per month) or check out the Total Training Series. Keep at it, and pretty soon you’ll be teaching the newcomers.

I hope this helps someone. Let me know if I can answer another one of your questions.
